- Squealer became the third boat to be forced to retire from the Auckland to Musket Cove Ocean race when it lost its rig at 1756hrs yesterday. While we still don't know the circumstances of the dismsasting, we are pleased to report that all the crew members are safe, they have retrieved the rig, there is no structural damage to the boat, and they are currently motoring the final 48nm to the finish, under the watch of Maritime Radio in Taupo.
- In exactly one year today, the Sail Fiji race organized by Royal Akarana Yacht Club will start from the Orakei Wharf on Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour. Scheduled for Saturday 7th June 2014, Sail Fiji will be the 22nd race to the Fijian islands for the club that is considered the home of blue water sailing.

- After a postponement due to lack of wind, Tamara Echegoyen of Spain swept her opponents away when the ISAF Women’s Match Racing World Championship 2013 finally got under way in Busan, Korea.
- TeamVodafoneSailing has finished the Auckland to Musket Cove, Fiji Ocean Race in a new best time of 101 hours, 5 minutes and 5 seconds. The trimaran, owned and skippered by Simon Hull, crossed the finish line in Fiji at 1905hrs today, after 1,150 nautical miles of sailing.
- Two of three New Zealand crews competing at May's IFDS Blind Sailing World Championships in Japan have returned home with medals. Together the crew of Kiwis were second best nation overall, again fuelling the proud history that New Zealanders carry on the global scene of Blind Sailing.

- Yachting New Zealand would like to congratulate both Joe Butterfield (YNZ Life Member) and Adrienne Greenwood (former YNZ CEO) who were both named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list announcements for 2013. Joe Butterfield of Timaru was awarded an MNZM for services to health and the transport industry and Adrienne Greenwood of Auckland was awarded an ONZM for services to sailing.
