  • Tomorrow is the day. The last day of the 34th America’s Cup. After 18 races the two teams are on eight points and tomorrow will race on San Francisco Bay for the 9th point – the one that will win them the America’s Cup.

  • The 2013 49er and 49erFX World Championships are underway in Marseille, France. With day one of six completed the young NZL Sailing Team crew of Marcus Hansen and Josh Porebski has had a dream start and they share the lead after two bullets today.

  • The dates for Napier's New Year Regatta have been set: 2nd – 4th January 2014. This regatta tends to be very low key in terms of advertising etc, but let us know if you might be keen to join us, and I will keep you up to date with info as it becomes available.

  • Many of our yacht clubs operate slipways. Slipways, when not operated correctly can be dangerous. As a result of an incident on Auckland’s North Shore earlier this year, where three people were badly hurt, Maritime New Zealand have release a list of recommendations about safe management of slipways. Clubs should read the following story and ensure that their procedure take in to account the recommendations.

  • Northland and Auckland Yacht Club members have an opportunity to meet Yachting New Zealand Chief Executive David Abercrombie. David will attend three up-coming meetings and extends an invitation to all local club members for a question and answer session, to discuss the new strategic plan that we hope will guide Yachting New Zealand and our Clubs for the next four years and beyond.
