  • The Young Challenger’s Cup is a youth focused sailing event. It involves yacht clubs from around New Zealand putting forward a team of four sailors between the ages of 12 and 17 to battle with 15 other teams for the Young Challenger’s Cup trophy.

  • Emirates Team New Zealand chairman Dr Keith Turner says the team has now reached the point where it has the confidence to mount a challenge for the 35th America’s Cup. The team has secured sufficient private and sponsorship funding to proceed to the next stage without needing Government funding during this period.

  • New Zealand Laser sailor Mike Bullot has ended his European tour on a strong note with a 6th place at Kieler Woche Regatta in Germany. The Olympic class regatta concluded overnight in Germany after five days of racing; Bullot (pictured above) was the sole kiwi to feature in the 88-strong Laser class.

  • Yachting New Zealand’s bi-annual Commodores’ Conference had close to 100 people from 71 clubs attend over the weekend. YNZ Chief Executive David Abercrombie was pleased with the turnout and says the event was a huge success.
