YNZ create race official code of conduct

Issue date

Regattas should be a positive, safe and harassment-free environment for sailors, volunteers and officials which is why Yachting New Zealand have formalised a code of conduct for race officials.

This code of conduct provides expectations for conduct and behaviour for Yachting New Zealand-qualified race officials and can be found here

All Yachting New Zealand-qualified race officials should have received an email this week with a request to return a signed copy back to Yachting New Zealand. Please contact Yachting New Zealand if you did not.

Race officials play an integral role in our sport, whether at club or high performance level, running races for sailors and ensuring they are carried out in a safe, fair and sportsmanlike manner. It's a part of the sport that can take you around the world and officiate at the highest levels, like New Zealand's Megan Kensington.

For more information about how to become a qualified race official, check out the race officials section of our website
