We are halfway through the school term already, and the Sailing…Have a go! team has been working hard to get kiwi kids out on the water and experiencing the thrills and spills of sailing! So far this term over 500 kids from around the country have Had a Go! at sailing at their local yacht club.
The wanderlust instructors Reuben, Simon and Henry are making their way around the country this season, providing school students with a fun, safe day on the water with the hope that it captures the kids’ imagination and they want to Learn to Sail.
Offered to schools throughout the country, Volvo Sailing…Have a Go! introduces potential new sailors to their local yacht club and host clubs are encouraged to use this opportunity to promote their Learn to Sail programme and club activities. Last season saw over 3400 students Have a go! at sailing at their local club, with over 90% expressing interest in continuing with sailing.
It has been an exciting start to the programme this season, with the Northern trailer venturing out to Great Barrier Island for the first time. Students from two schools went sailing with us and the Barrier put on a show with perfect weather and dolphins joining the party!
We are now taking bookings for Volvo Sailing…Have a Go! in Term 1, 2017 if you are interested in having the programme visit your yacht club or school. It is suitable for students in years 4-8.
