Update to YNZ policy for advertising on boats

YNZ has recently updated its policy regarding advertising on boats while racing in New Zealand in line with ISAF updating Regulation 20 – Advertising Code.

The right to display advertising on a boat is automatically granted to all Yachting New Zealand National Classes   and to events sailed in New Zealand that are not subject to ISAF Regulation 20.2.3.1 or 20.2.3.2.

Any advertising that is displayed on a Yachting New Zealand National Class boat shall comply with ISAF Regulation 20 “ISAF Advertising Code” in addition any advertising that is displayed on a boat sailing in an event is New Zealand shall comply with ISAF Regulation 20 “ISAF Advertising Code”.

The following National Classes have previously restricted the amount of advertising that can be displayed on a boat to manufacturers and sailmakers marks in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20.9:

  • 3.7
  • P Class
  • Phase 2
  • R Class
  • Zephyr
  • Noelex 22

Should these classes desire to remove this restriction they shall request YNZ’s approval for a change to their class rules.
