Hansa North Islands

Tight racing a feature of Hansa North Islands

Issue date

While numbers were down a bit due to the lack of sailing by the Sailability programmes because of Covid, the racing was close in the light and changeable conditions at last weekend's Hansa 303 North Island championships.

Tauranga sailor Paulien Chamberlain sailed a very consistent regatta at the Ngaroto Sailing Club to retain the trophy for another year, with local Ngaroto sailor Andrew Short second and Mel Mason third.

Chamberlain was also the first blind sailor and Brody Williams-Jury (Waitara Boating Club) claimed the honours as the first seated sailor.

It was great to see the camaraderie developing in the group of sailors as they attend more regattas and share their experiences.

A huge thanks to the Ngaroto Sailing Club for running the regatta and to the support people for their assistance.
