Taranaki Official Launch: 03/03/2013

Issue date

Sailability Taranaki has finally taken delivery of four of their very own sailboats, and a new coach boat to kick their programme full speed ahead.  Thanks to funding from the TET Electricity Trust (two Access 303’s) TSB Community Trust (two Access 303’s), Methanex (Coach Boat) and Regal Transport (who delivered the boats), Sailability Taranaki is now able to fully operate on their own feet.

Until now, Sailability Taranaki has been operating with two loaned Access 303 dinghies from the NZ Access Class Association, donated by AMP.  They held two successful open days at the Waitara Boating Club last season, one of which resulted in 70 people coming down on one weekend to give sailing a go. A handful of these sailors are now regularly taking part in club programmes and regattas.

To commemorate the launching of these four new sailboats and the coach boat, there will be a Try Sailing activity at the Waitara Boating Club on Sunday March 3rd at 12:30pm. All welcome.
