Sits vacant - YNZ performance and technical analyst

Issue date

Yachting New Zealand is the national sports organisation in this country for the sport of sailing at all levels and we're looking for a performance and technical analyst to join our team.

We are a not-for-profit organisation of approximately 25 employees around the country committed to helping New Zealanders access, enjoy and succeed on the water for life. We also represent the needs and interests of more than 200 member clubs, classes, affiliated organisations and their members from grassroots upwards.

New Zealand sailors have a proud tradition of success at the Olympics, highlighted by the record-equaling four medals won at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The high performance programme continually evolves and the focus now is on winning medals at the 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Olympics.

The high performance programme is supported by High Performance Sport New Zealand staff, including performance and technical analysis and athlete performance support.

Reporting to the high performance director, the performance and technical analyst will lead the provision of all performance analysis data and information to all identified Olympic campaigns. This will be done in collaboration and alignment with the lead sailing performance and technical analysis provider and all other performance science disciplines.

This role would suit candidates with significant yacht racing experience and a tertiary qualification in a related field such as engineering, naval architecture, physics, computer or sports science. Experience in the collation, analysis and reporting of relevant data is required, as is the ability to work in a collaborative partnership with other performance science disciplines and key stakeholders.

If you’re a passionate sailor with a can-do attitude and ability to manage multiple priorities at once while maintaining exemplary attention to detail, then this could be the role for you.

This is a unique opportunity to join a world-leading national sports organisation with an absolute focus on ensuring New Zealanders win on the world stage.

Applications close: 5pm Thursday, November 7, 2019.
