Sailors to descend on Maraetai for Auckland regattas

Issue date

The Maraetai Sailing Club are gearing up for a busy summer, highlighted by the fact they will host five classes for the Barfoot & Thompson Auckland championships over Auckland Anniversary weekend.

Optimist, Optimist, Starling, RS Feva, 420 and 29er sailors will all contest for their respective Auckland titles over a three-day event at the end of January. As in previous years, results from Monday's sailing count for the Ports of Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta, with a separate prizegiving at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.

It will be the first Auckland championships for the RS Feva class and it will also be a youth selection regatta for the 29ers.

As many as 300 sailors are expected to converge on Maraetai, making it the largest anniversary day sailing event.

The Optimist, RS Feva and Starling notice of race is now available here or on the club's website, with the 420 and 29er NOR expected to be published soon.

The Maraetai Sailing Club's first regatta for the season is the Barfoot & Thompson Auckland P-Class championships on November 17-18. The club hosted this event last year and are looking forward to welcoming both old and new friends.

The NOR has been sent to clubs and is available here or on the club's website.
