Sailability Northland tackles 35+kn on opening day

Issue date

Our season opened on 18th November to 35 knot gusting winds however our location at Parua Bay offers some shelter, so Ron Miller with Alex Dickson gave it a go in one or our 303’s. A great time was had by Alex and although conditions were not suitable for learning, we got things started!

We now have a 3.5m safety boat and two 303’s, all on trailers and recently took this lot to the Kai Iwi lakes to an open day held by Sport Northland where we were fully occupied giving sailing experiences to local children. A beautiful location but access is not very good for the disabled – something to work on!

Regular sailing will now take place at the Whangarei Cruising Club at Parua Bay every two weeks, tides permitting and between these times by arrangement. We have also concluded an arrangement with the Outboard Boating Club at Parua Bay to use one of their pontoons, and have installed a crane mount so we can now cater for all eventualities.

Our website at www.sailabilitynorthland.com is also active and will soon have a link to a booking program.
