Sail like a girl at Kohimarama regatta

Issue date

The annual PredictWind Girls Champs 2021 will take place at the Kohimarama Yacht Club on March 20 when more than 100 female sailors will gather for fun and friendship on and off the water.

The one-day regatta is designed to empower and inspire female sailors through competition. It's been running for the best part of 35 years and is unique in many ways because it's one of the only occasions when females sail exclusively with and against other females until they get into the high performance environment.

Registrations will open soon on the Kohimarama Yacht Club website and it will be open to Optimist, Starling, 420, 29er, Waszp, RS Feva, O'pen Skiff, P-Class and Laser sailors.

"This is an amazing opportunity for those girls who are currently in your learn to race or up-skillers Opti fleet to get some regatta practice," Kohimarama Yacht Club commodore Andy Kensington said. "Our own KYC learn to race girls will be competing and we will have a number of our green fleet coaches available on the water to help these girls out."
