Rodd & Gunn: On board as NZL's principle sponsor for San Francisco 2013

Issue date
The NZL Sailing team with Emirates Team New Zealand are celebrating a new partnership with one of New Zealand’s iconic menswear brands: Rodd & Gunn.

Skipper Peter Burling and his team of under 25’s will be meticulous in their preparation for the Red Bull Youth Americas Cup, leaving no stone unturned and using only the most reliable of equipment from suppliers that they can trust.  This extreme attention to detail extends as far as the choice of clothes on their back.

“At Rodd & Gunn, our core values are authenticity and quality” says Mike Beagley, Rodd & Gunn’s Managing Director.

“All our garments are made with superior workmanship; the quality of fabrics, the linings and the construction of the garments are all unmistakable hallmarks of high quality design” he continues.

Three of the seven sailors on board NZL 1 (NZL Sailing Team with ETNZ’s AC45) for the Red Bull Youth Americas Cup were acquainted with Rodd & Gunn as members of the London 2012 New Zealand Olympic Team, and they’re pleased to be back together for another pinnacle regatta.

“It’s a different look for the team; we’re usually in board shorts” says Olympic silver medallist sailor Blair Tuke “At this regatta we’ll be looking a bit smarter”.

“Rodd & Gunn have given us a complete set of on shore clothing and I hope we’ll be able to put it on come September 4th to step up on a podium”

The Red Bull Youth Americas Cup regatta takes place in the AC45 Catamarans during the short break of the Louis Vuitton finals and the start of the Americas Cup: 1 – 4 September 2013. Together, Peter Burling, Blair Tuke, Andy Maloney, Jono Spurdle, Guy Endean, Jason Saunders and Sam Meech will be racing as one of two teams representing the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
