Range of events planned for Steering the Course

Issue date

Clubs throughout the country are organising events ranging from social sailings and learn to sail sessions to quiz nights and competitive racing as part of the upcoming Steering the Course Sailing Festival.

The Southern Hemisphere edition of Steering the Course takes place between September 30 and October 9, 2022, and Yachting New Zealand are keen to hear what your club are planning.

From dinghies to keelboats and windsurfing to kiteboarding, all disciplines are welcome to be part of the festival and you can see what some clubs are planning here. Send us details what your club are up to so we can add it to the list.

Now into its second year, Steering the Course is an initiative launched by World Sailing to improve the opportunities, visibility and value for women and girls within the sport of sailing. It also encourages pathways into coaching and race management.

Australian Sailing are running their second SheSails Leadership Conference online on the evening of October 5 with help from New Zealand. The event features a special presentation from Bronwynne Howse about the Kohimarama Yacht Club's PredictWInd Girl's Regatta, as well as Australian Olympic medallist and SailGP sailor Nina Curtis and solo sailor Jessica Watson.

Find out more about it here, which includes details on how to register.
