The start of the new sailing season is not too far away, meaning it's the perfect time to enrol in a learn to sail coaching course.
Yachting New Zealand last month launched an online offering of the learn to sail course through their online learning platform, Embark. This has proved a popular change and allows participants to join three online sessions before getting together in person with the coach developer for the on-water component of the course.
A number of courses have scheduled to start in August and September but it will become more difficult to schedule other courses during the summer sailing season.
Aspiring coaches can also still opt for the traditional two-day classroom option and courses of this nature have been scheduled in Auckland and Wellington in the next two months.
"If you wait until October to sign up for a course, it's usually too late because the new season is in full swing and clubs, coaches and coach developers are busy with other commitments," Yachting New Zealand coach development manager Peter Soosalu said.
