Oman Sail: Optimist coach vacancy

Issue date

Oman Sail is moving into its next development phase with an increased focus on creating young Omani sailors who will continually improve on the International sailing stage. They are seeking an Optimist Coach.

To develop the experience of the sailors, Oman Sail will focus on the younger sailors (8-18 yrs old) within the Youth Sailing pathway. The main activity will be on the junior racing sailors (11-15 yrs) within the Optimist class.

The candidate must have a proven track record in Optimist coaching, with good knowledge of English, good management and communication skills. We expect the ideal candidate to have a broad range of coaching experience, based on work with junior and youth sailors in classes such as Laser 4.7 and Laser Radial, with specific delivery of International results in the Optimist class. Additional coaching experience in classes such as 29er will be a benefit but not crucial.

In addition to the coaching skills, we expect the candidate to be a key part of the coach education programme that will develop the new generation of Omani coaches. The candidate will be expected to work weekends and long hours, travel within Oman and abroad during International sailing competitions and training camps.

The candidate must be enthusiastic, experienced and flexible in their approach to delivery while being prepared to function within a culturally diverse environment. If you see yourself as the right person for this challenging job, and interested in joining a dynamic, vibrant team send your cv to myfuture@omansail.com indicating the job title and the code.

The closing date for CV's is October 4th 2013. Only candidates who fulfil the criteria with the relevant skills and are short listed for interview will be contacted.
