Oceanbridge Sail Auckland 2014 graded as 100 Point Regatta

Issue date

The Oceanbridge Sail Auckland 2014 organizing committee is pleased to announce today that the regatta has got the tick of approval from The ISAF Sail Rankings Sub-Committee; it will be graded as a 100 point regatta.

What does this mean for the sailors?

Essentially, it means that every sailor in an Olympic class boat for this regatta will receive substantial points toward their ISAF Sailing World Rankings. This is the only 100 point Olympic Class regatta in NZ in 2014.

At Oceanbridge Sail Auckland 2014, the first placed competitor in each Olympic class will receive 100 points toward their world ranking, and for the rest of competitors, points are calculated by the following formula:  Ranking Points = E(N-P+1)/N

Where;
E = Event Rank (100)
N = Number of Entries
P = Position in regatta

How do the points add up over a season?
Each competitor counts his or her best six results over the previous 12 months. The one year period is calculated on a rolling basis (from today's date to the same date one year previously). Of those six results, a competitor may only count three results from the ISAF Sailing World Cup.

The ISAF Sailing World Cup regattas, ISAF Sailing World Championships and Olympic Class World Championships are typically 200-point events. Olympic Class World Championships (not compliant with 200-point criteria), continental championships (not held as part of a 200-point event) and other major international events using Olympic equipment are 100-point events.

Complete information about the Criteria for Ranked Events is defined in ISAF Regulation 27.1.
