NZ team to take on the Aussies in eSailing champs

Issue date

James Bichener took out Sunday night's Zhik New Zealand eSailing Challenge, narrowly fending off a quality lineup of eSailors from throughout the country.

Bichener won the final race to squeeze past Chris Salmon and take the title by one point, with 11-year-old Tom Pilkington third. Bichener takes home a $500 Zhik voucher for himself and another $500 Zhik voucher for his club, the Plimmerton Boating Club.

Sunday's final rounded off a month-long competition to find New Zealand's best eSailor and the top six will now represent a New Zealand team taking on their Australian counterparts in this Sunday's Zhik Trans-Tasman eSailing Championships (8pm). You can catch all the action live on the Yachting New Zealand Facebook page.

Zhik have once again come to the party and have offered a $500 voucher to the trans-Tasman winner and $300 for second and $200 for third.

Here is your New Zealand team to take on the Aussies.

Yacht club: Paremata Boating Club
eSailing boat name: rynosailor

For now I am coaching sailing instead and my sailing ambition at the moment is to provide young people in my area with the opportunities and experiences that I have been lucky enough to receive in my sailing life, by coaching and mentoring them.
