A corporate charter with the NZ Sailing Trust is for groups seeking a real hands-on sailing adventure.
Your experience with them provides great team building and leadership learning opportunities. The hands-on nature of sailing Steinlager 2 and Lion New Zealand are perfect platforms for encouraging teamwork, enhancing inter-department relations, developing empathy and building on key business skills such as communication, time management, trust, resilience and courage.
Open Charter
An Open charter is where the NZ Sailing Trust work with you to achieve your group objective, be it hosting clients, a team reward or a community initiative like a beach clean or team building experience. Options from two hours / half-day through to full day. Catering and refreshments on request. Each boat can accommodate up to 35 pax.
Rum Racing
During selected Fridays throughout the year, the NZ Sailing Trust enter the boats in the RNZYS harbour series rum races held on Auckland harbour. This is a 2-3 hours experience with the thrill of racing a Whitbread maxi thrown in. They can cater for up to 25 people per boat. You could throw a challenge to your competitors or work colleagues and book both boats or simply enquire about taking a group out for the experience, from $100 per head.
Maxi Racing Challenge
A two-hour experience on the Auckland Harbour and Inner Hauraki Gulf. Race head-to-head with up to 25 people on each boat (total of 50pax) around a course determined by our skippers on the day. A fun team-building event. Ideal for tagging on to a conference. Options, including the addition of two ex-Americas Cup boats, can cater for up to to 100 participants.
Team Building and Community Day
A full-day programme in the inner gulf to an outer-lying island. Lunch either on board or on a beach. Followed by a beach clean, island walk, volunteer work, restorative vegetation planting or track forming on an inner island. An opportunity for your team to work together, set a team goal and participate in a community environmental or sustainability initiative supporting the sustainability of the Hauraki Gulf.
Leadership Development Programme
A 2-3 day hands-on programme aimed at encouraging teamwork, building resilience, thinking on your feet, reflective self-learning, individual and team goals, learn fundamentals of leadership and how to apply lessons back to the work place. This programme is facilitated by the NZ Sailing Trust's professional sailing crew and leadership partners from The Learning Wave. Their team will provide a safe but challenging environment for your business leaders to push themselves and take themselves out of their comfort zones.
Proceeds from a charter with the NZ Sailing Trust are invested back into their youth programmes ensuring their programmes are cost effective, reducing cost as a barrier for participation. No sailing experience is required as their professional crew will guide you through your experience.
