Napier Regatta

More than 300 entrants expected at Napier Regatta

Issue date

The Napier Sailing Club are expecting the biggest fleet yet for their annual Summer Regatta on November 28-29, with more than 300 entrants possible on the start line.

This year's event will include a number of regattas within a regatta, with it also incorporating the 12-foot skiffs national championships, North Island championships for Lasers, Waszps, Zephyrs, O'pen Skiffs and Flying Dutchman and the East Coast championships for Optimist (open), Paper Tiger and OK Dinghy classes.

The Flying Dutchman, Waszp and 12-foot skiff classes will be sailing over three days and the rest over two.

Racing is open to boats of all classes, including keelboats, trailer yachts and sports boats. Entries close on November 24, although entries received after November 21 will incur an additional fee of $20.

On top of the great racing, facilities and weather (organisers guarantee it will be fine*), a taste of Hawke's Bay evening will be held on the Saturday evening when tastings from local beer, wine  and food producers will be offered. The bar and restaurant will also be open at regular times throughout the weekend.

See here for more information, including the notice of race, entry form and a list of current entrants.

* Fine weather cannot be guaranteed unless you have a direct line with Mother Nature.
