Join Melanoma NZ during the week of 14th – 21st of November and spread the word about early detection. New Zealand has the highest melanoma incidence rate in the world. Every year over 300 New Zealanders die from melanoma and there are 4000 new diagnoses. These are shocking statistics for a cancer that is largely preventable and easily treated if caught early. Melanoma NZ is on a mission to change these statistics.
Blair Tuke is one of the ambassadors for Melanoma New Zealand:
We’re asking all New Zealanders to check their skin regularly so you are aware of any changes, because melanoma diagnosed in its early stage can be successfully treated. Look out for any spots, moles or freckles that have changed or are different from others. If you notice anything unusual or different you should seek advice from your GP or specialist. Early detection saves lives.
Melanoma NZ is the only melanoma specific consumer group operating in this country and it receives no government funding; all campaigns and initiatives are made possible through the generosity of ambassadors, sponsors, grantors, fundraisers and donors. If you would like to help us save lives you can either text 2448 to donate $3 (during the month of November) or visit our website www.melanoma.org.nz
