Kohimarama Yacht Club are Celebrating 75 years of Youth Sailing

Issue date

Kohimarama Yacht Club is calling all past and present Kohi sailors, along with their parents and supporters to attend their 75 years of youth sailing celebrations.

It will be a great evening to catch up with sailing mates and the Club has arranged a number of past and notable Kohi members to speak. In addition, Jason Morgan, the current Commodore will outline the Club’s vision for the future.

DATE: Saturday 9 May, 2015
VENUE: Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron Ballroom

Richard Cave from the Club explains they are keen for as many past members to attend; “As a youth club, most members, including parents stay at the club for only about 10 years hence, we have a lot of past members, many of whom have moved onto other yacht clubs around New Zealand.”

“So we are hoping that news of this event can be forwarded to as many past Kohi sailors and supporters as possible.”

Kohimarama Yacht Club has a rich and proud history. It has been a nursery for sailors that have gone on to achieve in all branches of the sport. Kohi’s sailing graduates include men and women who have become World Champions, Olympic Gold medallists, off-shore sailors and America’s Cup victors. It’s great to see Kohimarama Yacht Club continuing to strive for success. At the recently completed 2015 NZ Optimist Nationals, sailed out of the Worser Boating Yacht Club in Wellington, Kohimarama Yacht Club sailors secured four of the top five places.

As part of our 75th Celebrations, the Club are also collecting old photos and important documents to share and archive. Upload your favourite Kohi photos to the Kohi Facebook page: www.facebook.com/kyc75
