The Kerikeri Cruising Club has confirmed the Inaugural Kerikeri to Vava’u Ocean yacht race will take place starting on the 6th of May 2017 with a cruising division starting on Thursday the 4th.
We have been investigating the feasibility of running the race over the past six months and Yachting New Zealand has approved our application to run 2017’s offshore race that year.
The club has run two successful offshore races in the past to Port Vila, Vanuatu but decided on the new destination; not only as a change but also for Tonga’s excellent reputation as a cruising destination should entrants like to hang around for a while after the race.
Vava’u Yacht Club is assisting with organisation and sponsorship as well as promising a warm welcome.
Entrants who take part in the race will be eligible to win a drawn prize of a trip for two to Vava’u including 7 days accommodation and air travel courtesy of Mondo Travel and Tongan Beach Resort.
