Join the Ocean Sailing Club's “Ends of the Earth Challenge”

Issue date

Whether you like your sailing 'extreme' or 'relaxing, thank you very much'. This voyage could be just for you.

Be one of the first people to sail, in consecutive summers, from the world's most Southerly town, Ushuaia, behind Cape Horn, to the most Northerly, Hammerfest, 400 miles above Norway's Arctic circle.

Join the Ocean Sailing Club's 60 foot custom-built yacht, skippered by Peter Edington, an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor with over 50,000 Ocean miles as they attempt to set this new record.

Whether you want to challenge yourself with Cape Horn, to retrace the Viking route from Ireland to Arctic Norway or just to be wafted over the Caribbean, there will definitely be a leg for you to crew on with this exciting voyage!

Pit yourself against the Southern Ocean: Leave New Zealand in November 2014 on a one month expedition to Cape Horn and Ushuaia; or start 2015 on the “Shackleton Centenary” expedition from Ushuaia to South Georgia.

Maybe four days at the Rio carnival in February, followed by a cruise to flamboyant Trinidad? This 'blue-water' section will give you all the miles you need for your Yachtmaster Ocean.

But, if you prefer 'turquoise-water cruising', sip rum-punch as the yacht draws breath, exploring the West Indies in three very relaxing ten-day legs during March before the next mile-builder: an April Atlantic Crossing from Bermuda to Dublin.

Completing the “Ends of the Earth Challenge” will be the 'Norse Saga' leg from Dublin to The Faroes, Tromso and Hammerfest – 400 miles above Norway's Arctic Circle!

The Ocean Sailing Club are looking for adventurers, and Rum-punch sippers, wanting to make their dreams come true. For more information about this brand new, once-in-a-lifetime sailing challenge just Google 'Ends of the Earth Sailing' or go to the club's website www.TheOceanSailingClub.org.
