Invitation to Compete in the 2014 NZ Open Keel Boat Championships

Apologies to Grant Turnbull for the error in my last update, he has won the NZ Open Keel Boat Championships 4 times! AMAZING. Who is going to follow in his footsteps?

Entries are coming in and are now due for the 2014 NZ Open Keelboat National Championships, NZ’s genuine one design keel boat championship.

Past winners are a who’s who of NZ Yachting: Rod Davis, Sir Russell Coutts, Roger Wood, Ray Davies, Cameron Appleton, Greg Salthouse, Grant Turnbull, Andrew Wills, Phil Douglas, Laurie Jury, Roger Pagani, Dean Barker, Josh Junior, Stefan Goldwater, William Tiller, Adam Minoprio.

The 2014 NZ Open Keelboat championships will be held on the 1st & 2nd March 2014 and will be run by the Royal NZ Yacht Squadron.

Key points:

Entry 

  • Entries will be accepted in the order in which complete entries are received – see Notice of Race for details.
  • Entry to the regatta is restricted to 10 entries.
  • Sailing crews shall have a maximum weight of 525kg including the skipper.
  • The entry fee is $1,100.

Schedule

  • Entries are due in now!
  • Registration: Friday 28th February 0900 to 1800hrs
  • Briefing: Friday 28th February 18.00hrs RNZYS
  • Dates of Racing: Saturday 1st March and Sunday 2nd March 2014, first warning signal 10.25am.
  • Number of Races: 10 races with up to 6 back to back races each day

Courses

  • The courses shall be windward leewards
  • The intended course area is the Northern Leading area

Training Opportunities

MRX Yachts will be available for training at very favourable rates, (and also for Monday night sprint racing 24th February), for crews who have entered the Keel Boat Nationals - first come first served.
