Infinity Racing - Women’s International Match Racing, Lysekil Day 2

Issue date

Today’s conditions were a lot lighter than yesterday but impressively the race committee managed to put away 10 flights leaving 4 races to be completed in the round robin tomorrow.

The day was packed with some fantastic racing and we even saw a match where one team was forced to tack going down wind with a spinnaker up which made for interesting discussions in the debrief.

We had some very close racing and our starts definitely improved, along with our tactics.  An exciting match was against Anna from Sweden – Currently leading the Women’s International Match Racing series. We had extremely close racing with her staying hot on her tail the entire race, but a thrilling downwind leg of luffing and gybing left us a little slow off the pace following her to the finish.

Our last race of the day had our blood pumping the whole way around the track (this match was up against Caroline also from Sweden.) We started off the start line a little slow but managed to advance on her up the beat. The racing was close up wind and around the second top mark we were in front. Winds were light but fantastic teamwork and trimming scored us a win over the local team.

Tack! (Thank you)
