Auckland Grammar School has won the 2015 Secondary Schools Team Sailing National Championships, hosted by Lake Taupo Yacht Club (13-15 April) after placing second at last year’s event. Previous long-time winner, Kerikeri High School came second, ahead of Marlborough Boys’ College.
The racing was very close among the top three teams, with each winning a round robin, in a variety of conditions over the five days of sailing.
Saint Kentigern College won the silver fleet and Queen Charlotte College the bronze fleet.
First Girls’ team was Napier Girls’ High Schools, followed by New Plymouth Girls’ High School and Diocesan School third.
The top three Open and Girls’ teams are eligible to compete at the Inter-dominion event to be held in Australia in spring.
Thanks go to all volunteers who assisted in running the championships, especially those from the Lake Taupo Yacht Club who hosted the event.
