Graham Mander Regatta

Graham Mander Regatta remembers Canterbury Yachting Stalwart

Issue date

The late Graham Mander was a stalwart in Canterbury Yachting, always coming down to Christchurch Yacht Clubs' annual regatta to offer advice and encouragement.

It's this act of kindness and sportsmanship which is fondly remembered at the regatta which now carries his name.

The Graham Mander Regatta was held from 3-4 December and saw a six-race series completed for three fleets to determine their respective championships.

Four Green Fleet opti sailors were amongst the 36 sailors to take part in the regatta.

The event is named for the late Graham Mander (1931-2021) an incredibly talented yachtsman, who was just pipped by his brother Peter for the Olympic selection in 1956. Graham won thirteen national titles in five different classes including twice winning the Tanner and Tauranga Cups.
