A good turnout of centreboard sailors attended the Waitara Boating Club's annual regatta over the weekend.
A blustery south-easterly on Saturday tested all sailors, but Sunday dished up a perfect 8-10 knots. Good size fleets of Optimists, Starlings, Lasers and Hansa 303s made up the regatta fleet with boats from New Plymouth and Tauranga joining the locals.
The Waitara club are fully renovating their clubrooms at present and everyone enjoyed the new facilities at the club even though there is some finishing off to do. With full wheelchair access now available as part of the rebuild all sailors are now able to socialise together.
Well done to the race management team and the Waitara club for a wellrun regatta.
