Get into Boating at Westhaven

Issue date

If you've ever asked the question 'how do I get into boating' then this event is for you.

There are many opportunities to go boating at Westhaven Marina, even if you have no experience, and little budget. You just need to know where to go.

Westhaven Marina is pleased to team up with the Ponsonby Cruising Cluband Penny Whiting for Boating 101 - where you'll find out everything you need to know about getting out on the water.

Find out from Penny (pictured, left) - and others - in a fun and light hearted way about:

  • How to learn what you need to know to be a useful crew member
  • What it means to be a crew member - your commitment and involvement on the boat
  • Getting into racing - or social sailing and cruising
  • Joining a yacht club
  • Dragonboating and Paddling opportunities for fitness and fun
  • Training schools and facilities at Westhaven Marina

The entry fee is a $20 donation (cash only) to the boat bucket, which goes towards the running of the Ponsonby Sailing School and the great work they do getting Kiwi kids (and adults) into sailing.

Plus, Steve from Line 7 will be there with gear demo's and spot prizes!

To be held at the Ponsonby Cruising Club (next to the round about, under the Harbour Bridge on Westhaven Drive), from 6pm-8pm on Monday 10 November 2014. Beverages will be available.

RSVPing is appreciated to info@westhaven.co.nz, call 0800 MARINAS before lunchtime on 10 November, or through the Westhaven Marina Facebook page.
