Helga Cup

Germany to host top-level women's regatta

Issue date

The Helga Cup is the world's largest women-only regatta and they're hoping to attract some of the world's best female sailors.

Last year's event in Hamburg attracted 62 teams of four - they had to turn away others due to resources - but they can cater for up to 90 teams this time around. The top 20 teams from 2018 have already registered and registration is done on a first-come, first-served basis.

This year's event, which will be raced in J70 boats and with crews of four women, will be on June 14-16.

All the equipment, including boats and sails, will be provided and races will be short and sharp of about 10-12 minutes.

Anyone interested in attending either event or wanting to know more information should email helgacup@nrv.de or visit their website.
