Finalists primed for Zhik NZ eSailing Challenge

Issue date

The battle to find the best eSailor in the country heats up tomorrow night with the Zhik New Zealand eSailing Challenge final.

The final is the culmination of the Zhik New Zealand eSailing Challenge, which saw various regattas held to find club champions and then regional finals to identify the top three eSailors from each of the four regions.

The winner of the national final will receive a $500 voucher from Zhik, as well as another $500 voucher from Zhik for their club.

On top of that, the top six finishers in the national final will then qualify to represent New Zealand in the Trans-Tasman eSailing Championships against some of Australia's best on August 22 (8pm NZ time).

Both events will be streamed live on the Yachting New Zealand Facebook page, with Jesse Tuke providing commentary so you can cheer on your local representative. The New Zealand final will start at 7.30pm on August 12.

Yachting New Zealand and Zhik launched the eSailing challenge last year during lockdown and the sport has grown significantly since then, and a number of clubs in New Zealand hold regular racing.
