Event applications due to host 2019/20 nationals

Issue date

Planning has started for next summer as the 2018/19 sailing season wraps up.

Each class affiliated to Yachting New Zealand is automatically granted the right to hold one national championship annually.

Clubs and classes wishing to host a Yachting New Zealand-recognised national championship regatta next season need to be aware event application forms are due in to Yachting New Zealand by June 30, 2019.

There are certain regulations in place for national championship events to ensure there is value in the title of national champion.

These regulations also aim to ensure national and world championship events are sailed in accordance with the practices and procedures that apply to major events and shall be of a uniformly high standard of organisation on the water and on shore. It's also important all New Zealand sailors can be adequately informed of the opportunity to compete for the title of national champion.

For more information on running a national championship regatta and to find the national championship event application forms and documentation, see the Race Officials/Event Resources Page on the Yachting New Zealand website.

If you have any queries, please contact your local Yachting New Zealand regional support officer or Danika Mowlem at Yachting New Zealand on (09) 361 4028 or danika@yachtingnz.org.nz
