Esmerelda is in Wellington until Saturday

Issue date

The Chilean Navy Training Ship “Esmeralda” arrived in Wellington on Tuesday June 5th for just a short five day visit so  be sure to take up some great opportunities to see the boat and to meet the crew.

This Friday night 40 officers and crew from the Esmeralda will visit the wardroom to soak up some kiwi sailing atmosphere. They will be down at RPNYC from 5.30pm, and it would be great to have members of the Wellington yachting community there to give them a warm welcome. This is what is on offer:

·         COMPLIMENTARY NIBBLES are available for the Chileans and RPNYC members from 6.00pm-7.00pm, and normal bar snacks can be purchased

·         HAPPY HOUR will be from 6pm-7pm – beer, wine, and house spirits

·         A LUCKY MEMBER DRAW…get down before 7pm and put your name in to win a $100 FREE BAR TAB. If you are not there at the time of the draw then the next person picked wins!

Join a flotilla to farewell Esmeralda this Saturday

·         Esmeralda will be leaving Wellington on Saturday 9th June at 12.00pm and RPNYC would like as many boats as possible to get out on the harbour to farewell her and her crew. So if you are interested in joining the flotilla, please contact the club at events@rpnyc.org.nz so we can provide you with some Chilean flags to wave them good bye with.
