Emirates Team New Zealand America’s Cup wing trimmer Glenn Ashby has won the European A Class catamaran championships just completed in France. He won eight of the nine races in which he started. With his win secure, he did not compete in the 10th race.
Ashby’s result follows the win in the A Class worlds sailed off Takapuna, Auckland, in January.
Skipper Dean Barker finished eighth in the 105-strong fleet. Chris Nicholson, skipper of CAMPER in the last Volvo Ocean Race, who had never sailed an A Class cat until this year, finished 19th.
