East Coast juniors turn out for Opti and Starling Coaching

Issue date

East Coast sailing is off to a good start to the season with coaching clinics in Gisborne and Ohope.

Optis and Starlings made the most of the summery weather for a coaching clinic run by Yachting New Zealand Regional Support Officer Wayne Holdt at Gisborne Yacht Club.

“It’s a good chance to get the young sailors back on the water for the new season,” says Wayne. “Thanks to local sailor Peter Miller for his help with the clinic.”

Then it was off to Port Ohope Yacht Club where an enthusiastic group of Opti sailors turned out for another great day on the water, thanks also to local sailor Michael Tarboton for his assistance.

Unfortunately Wairoa Yacht Club had a flood go through the club and were unable to hold their coaching clinic, so will now be looking forward to their club regatta on the 5-6 December.
