Applications open for RNZYS youth training programme

Issue date

The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron's youth training programme is seen as a world leader, and applications for the 2022 intake are open to young sailors aged 15-23.

The RNZYS youth training programme started in November 1987 and has produced more than 500 graduates, with many achieving success in the likes of the America’s Cup, Ocean Race, World Match Racing Tour and national championships.

It delivers intensive sail training in a disciplined environment and is the country’s most comprehensive and advanced.

This year's course, which runs from May until December, costs $2295 and includes boats, all coaching, uniform and RNZYS junior membership.

Training is held on the weekends, starting at 9am and finishing around 4pm, and each season the RNZYS also support youth teams to attend various fleet and match racing regattas both nationally and internationally.

Applications are received all year round, so complete the application form and email it, along with a brief sailing CV, to coach Reuben Corbett.
