If ever there was an example that sailing is a sport for life it was at last month's Paper Tiger class national championships in Picton when entrants from 16 years old to 75.
Dave Shaw took out the competition, sailed over nine races during the three days from January 26-28, with 23 points followed by Hayden Percy (32 points) and Dylan Taylor (44 points).
Conditions were different each day, meaning all 46 competitors sailed in conditions that suited them as some stage of the regatta.
Queen Charlotte Yacht Club also offers not only a great venue to sail but also a club that provides a perfect venue for apres sailing with accommodation within close walking distance to the club rooms. Lidguard sails came on board with a Lidguard shout at the bar on the Friday night.
