2026 ILCA 6 World Championship, Day 2: Greta Pilkington strengthens medal bid with another strong day on Dublin Bay
Greta Pilkington has strengthened her position in the hunt for a medal at the ILCA 6 Women’s World Championship, with the New Zealand sailor maintaining her place inside the top 10 after another consistent day on Dublin Bay.
Pilkington backed up her strong opening day with two more top-10 finishes as the preliminary series wrapped up in Ireland, leaving her tied on 19 points with seventh-placed Hannah Snellgrove of Britain.
The Paris 2024 Olympian has now posted five consecutive top-10 results, including two third-place finishes across the opening two days, and sits eighth overall in the 108-boat fleet.
It leaves Pilkington firmly in contention heading into the elimination series, with the fleet splitting into Gold and Silver fleets for the next two days before the championship is decided in this weekend's final series.
American Charlotte Rose leads the way on five points, with Belgium’s Emma Plasschaert second on seven and Denmark’s Anna Munch third on 10. Australia’s Mara Stransky is fourth on 12, while Hungary’s Mária Érdi rounds out the top five on 15.

Pilkington produced her latest pair of top-10 results in challenging conditions, with sailors facing 18-24-knot winds and a small swell. Two races were completed as scheduled, taking the championship’s preliminary series tally to five races.
The New Zealander will now be looking to maintain her impressive consistency as the intensity ramps up, with the leading sailors set to go head-to-head in the Gold Fleet.
The 2026 ILCA 6 Women’s World Championship runs from 5-12 September off the National Yacht Club and Royal St George Yacht Club in Dún Laoghaire, closing out an historic month of Olympic-class sailing on Dublin Bay.
