The Coast New Zealand International Etchell Class Championships finished racing on Sunday 3 April, with six races being completed by the fleet of twelve one design Etchell 22s racing windward leeward courses near the Bean Rock area.
Andrew Wills, skipper of FENG SHUI with his crew of Anatole Masfen and Matthew Kelway, (pictured above) dropped their fifth place to finish the regatta with five guns.
At prize-giving Wills thanked the competitors for a great regatta and his crew mate Anatole for the newest sails on the track, FENG SHUI finishing 11 points ahead of second placed Craig Greenwood on AFFINITY, and his crew of Jeremy Scantlebury and Ian Purdie.
AFFINTY improved on their 3rd overall in the 2015 nationals. Third placed SPLIT DECISIONS was helmed by Philip Pryde with his crew of Dave Johnstone and Chris Urry.
The New Zealand Women’s Keel Boat Championships was all decided in the last race of the day.
Karleen Dixon and her crew of Julie Kidman, Keryn McMastor, Jenny Egnot, Jude Eades, Paula Satterthwait and Raynor Haagh (pictured below) finished the regatta with four guns a 3rd and one OCS leaving them tied with Melinda Henshaw who sailed a consistent regatta with one gun, four 2nds and one 3rd leaving the two tied for the top spot.
Results coming down to Dixon's 1st place in the last race to seal the regatta.
