Volunteers play a critical role in any successful regatta and organisers of December's Hyundai 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 world championships are looking for individuals keen to be involved in what promises to be terrific event.
As many as 400 sailors are expected to compete at the world championships at the Royal Akarana Yacht Club from November 29-December 8.
Most of the top teams will be competing, given world titles and Olympic qualification are on the line, and many countries will also be using it as an Olympic selection event. Olympic champions Peter Burling and Blair Tuke will be looking to win their fifth world title and first since returning to the class after a two-year break and the Nacra 17 fleet will be looking to knock Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti off their perch after the Italians dominated the class in 2018.
To make this world championship event a great success we are calling on assistance from volunteers whose role will be critical to help welcome local and visiting sailors, deliver a world-class regatta and foster a spirit of helpfulness and hospitality.
We are looking for people to help in both on-water and on-shore positions.
We would very much appreciate your assistance in helping to make this regatta a positive and memorable experience for all sailors, coaches and supporters.
