Dr. Dave's Offshore Medic Course

Associate Professor Dave Austin (Dr. Dave) will be running the “Dr. Dave’s Offshore Medic” course for the sixth year in a row on Saturday 1 February 2020 at Richmond Yacht Club in Auckland.
The course is recognised by Yachting New Zealand for category 1 and other events requiring an advanced first aid qualification. The course is also recognized by World Sailing for events such as the Auckland Fiji, Auckland Noumea, Sydney to Hobart and the Fastnet race.
Dave is a kiwi who is an experienced yachtsman with over 40,000 miles and is the Director of Intensive Care Services for Central Queensland Health. Dave specified the medical kits detailed in the Safety Regulations of Sailing 2017 – 2020.
The course covers all medical issues at sea including:
- Sea sickness
- Minor wounds
- Major trauma (wounds and closure techniques, fractures and dislocations)
- Cardiac arrest
- Burns
- Infection
- Intramuscular injections
Cost: $400.00 (includes morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch)
Time: 8am- 4pm
