The Waitara Boating Club is situated near the mouth of the Waitara River, 20km north of New Plymouth.

Sheltered waters on the river allow sailing in most conditions, with club members sailing Optimist, P Class, Starling, Laser and open dinghy classes.
Junior learn to sail is available in the club owned Optimist training dinghy’s.
