Heretaunga Boating Club

We are a family oriented sailing club on the Petone foreshore offering Saturday morning learn to sail courses for children and adults from October through to March. 

Children first start with a 3 day course in the school holidays (October or December) and continue on Saturday mornings and mid-week in one of the club's plastic training Optimists. Adults either have their own boat or may start in one of the club's RS Feva 2 person yachts, perhaps with a more experienced sailor to begin with. 

From learning to sail, most sailors progress to racing (Saturday mornings for Optimist sailors) and afternoons for other yachts.

Aside from regular Saturday some of our most popular events are the harbour sail events (2 per season) when learn-to-sailors and their parents sail on a keel boat to a destination in Wellington Harbour.
