World Sailing
Steering the Course is World Sailing’s global initiative designed to encourage more women and girls to participate in sailing at every level, from first‑time sailors through to leadership, coaching and officiating roles. Delivered through worldwide festival periods and locally led activities, the programme celebrates women already in the sport while creating accessible, flexible opportunities for clubs and organisations to attract and support new participants.
World Sailing’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) work focuses on creating a sport that is welcoming, fair and accessible to all, with a strong emphasis on gender equity, inclusive participation and belonging at every level of sailing. Through its Agenda 2030 commitments, dedicated EDI Committee, and initiatives such as Steering the Course and Para Inclusive Sailing, World Sailing supports athletes, officials, clubs and events to increase representation, remove barriers, and embed non‑discrimination across the global sailing community.
