Volunteers

Get involved in next year's America's Cup

Issue date

Here's your chance to be involved in the America's Cup.

Organisers of the event are looking for volunteers to work at the race village in the Auckland viaduct.

The team of volunteers will be the first faces visitors will meet. Their ‘Kaihapai’, or village team, will embrace all cultures, races, ethnic groups, languages and individuals without bias or prejudice. They want every visitor to feel welcomed to the village and experience the best Auckland has to offer. The roles in village team will be wide and varied:

  • Meet and greet visitors
  • Crowd management and safety
  • Cup village activations
  • Assist at activations where required (simulator, kids areas, merchandise store, Spark activation and more)
  • And more

This group is the largest and has the potential to be the most diverse of the volunteer roles; from 30 people on the quieter weekdays, increasing on busier weekends and race days.

Roles will suit all types as specific allocations will be made on the day according to need. Volunteers can choose the same position or try out another, so there's lots of variety or you can keep doing what you feel comfortable with.

It can be walking or sedentary, involve interacting with the public or quieter roles, working alone or part of a team – something for everyone. There are roles on offer from:

  • December 15 - March 15, 2021
  • Two shifts per day of approximately six hours:
    • 8am - 3.30pm
    • 2.30pm - 9pm

All volunteers will receive a uniform and a meal during their shift.

See here for more information, including details on how to sign up.
