Maloney and Meech on top at Kiel Week

Alex Maloney and Molly Meech had been looking forward to stronger winds at Kiel Week all regatta and it played into their hands last night (NZT) as the Olympic 49erFX silver medallists climbed to the top of the standings after three days of racing.

The pair scored two wins, a second and a sixth to open an eight-point lead on the British combination of Charlotte Dobson and Saskia Tidey.

Maloney and Meech rue costly error at World Cup final

One tactical error proved costly in what was an otherwise good day of racing for Alex Maloney and Molly Meech at the World Cup final in Santander, Spain, overnight (NZT).

The Olympic 49erFX silver medallists posted two thirds but were 13th in the first race of the day.

Sailor Profile: Trent Rippey, NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team Laser Radial sailor

Trent Rippey is a returning NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team member from 2012 when he competed in the 29er class as helmsman.
The 17 year old, who hails from Tauranga earned his place in this year’s team after placing 1st youth at the 2014 Laser Radial National Championships and 1st New Zealand youth at Oceanbridge Sail Auckland. At this year’s RYA Youth Nationals he scooped the silver medal in the boy’s Laser radial division.
