Sailors of all ages from across New Zealand and overseas took to the water for the start of the inaugural Oceanbridge NZL Sailing Regatta which kicked off on Auckland’s North Shore today.
Whilst it may have been a sweltering day onshore, a refreshing southerly breeze greeted some 140 competitors to head out from Murrays Bay Sailing Club in New Zealand’s premiere regatta for youth and Olympic sailing classes.
Set to unfold on Waitangi Weekend from 3-6 February and hosted by Murrays Bay Sailing Club, the premiere Youth and Olympic Classes regatta is expected to attract competition from around the world while also giving up-and-coming sailors the chance to compete against New Zealand’s top level Olympic campaigners. This last week has been super cool... We’re so very proud to have won an Olympic medal for NZ. It was extra special having our silver medal presented by Kiwi board sailing legend Barbara Kendall at the medal ceremony.
