Social Sailing

Social Sailing

Social sailing helps connect sailors to clubs and, more importantly, boats and gets people out on the water. Whether you have never sailed, or are looking to get back out sailing, many yacht clubs have opportunities and programmes for just this.

Click on the "Social Sailing map" to the right and find an event in your area that turns your crank.

Here are some clubs that run regular social programmes:

  • Richmond Yacht Club "VIctoria Friday Night Special" - The series provides an opportunity for people that have little or no sailing experience to race on keel boats around the buoys in the beautiful Waitemata Harbour in a supportive, low-key environment. Experienced sailors that wish to get more sailing in or wish to try out a number of new boats are also encouraged to join.
  • Royal Akarana Yacht Club "Thank Goodness its Friday" - Fast and Fun Racing for anyone who wants to join in! First Race 5pm, back on shore at 7pm. Includes a BBQ after racing!

If you're looking for advice as to the best option for you to get out on the water get in touch with Yachting New Zealand.
