MySail, a free app to find and manage crew for race yachts, has been launched in New Zealand to help skippers simplify their crew management.
Founded by passionate sailor and entrepreneur Deborah Dalziel, MySail is a solution to one of the yachting world’s biggest challenges - the availability and management of race crew.
“Many yacht owners have difficulties organising crew for racing," Dalziel said. "This leads to frustration for the owner or skipper, and declining fleet numbers when yachts can’t sail because they are unable to source enough suitable race crew.
"I created MySail to provide a simple online platform to make crew management easy and provide a central communication point for sailors, yacht owners and race organisers.”
Initially launched in Sydney and subsequently across Australia, MySail has grown to a community of more than 2500 sailors and yacht owners across Australia and now New Zealand.
Dalziel is keen to help new sailors get into the sport and people achieve their sailing goals by making it accessible and removing the barriers to finding a crew position.
“One of the objectives of our platform is to grow the overall number of people participating in sailing,” she said. “By providing an easy way for people who are new to the sport to connect with supportive yacht owners, MySail is doing just that.”
MySail is a commercial maritime member of Yachting New Zealand.
